Truck bed size chart: every current pickup

Here's every bed we could source, grouped by brand. Search it, filter it by class, or click a column header to sort (sort by "Between wells" to see which trucks take a 4x8 sheet flat). Blank cells mean the maker doesn't publish that figure and we couldn't verify one. We didn't guess.

How truck bed dimensions are measured

Spec sheets describe a bed with five numbers, and each one answers a different question. Length at the floor tells you what fits flat. Width between the wheel wells tells you what fits flat and wide. Depth tells you how high cargo sits relative to the rails, and volume tells you how much loose material the bed holds when it's level-full.

• Length at floor. Inside the bed, from the front wall to the inside of the closed tailgate. It's the figure every maker publishes and the one this page uses.
• Between the wheel wells. The narrowest point of the floor. Ford calls it "width between wheelhouses," Honda "at wheel wells."
• Max width. Side wall to side wall at the floor, ahead of or behind the wheel wells. Ford's Super Duty sheet calls it "maximum width (at floor)."

• Depth (inside height). Floor to the top of the bed side. Ford's Ranger sheet measures it "at molding," so a few tenths either way between brands isn't unusual.
• Volume. Ram labels its figure "SAE volume," and most makers use a comparable method. On the full-size and midsize trucks that publish all four numbers, the published volume lands at 96–98% of length x max width x depth. The wheel wells account for most of the gap. That's the correction our tools use when they have to estimate.
• Tailgate-down length. Rarely published. Honda lists 83.0 in for the Ridgeline and Rivian lists 83.6 in for the R1T. For everything else our tools use floor length plus bed depth. That comes out short on both of those trucks (by 2.3 in on the Ridgeline and 11.2 in on the R1T), and short is the safe direction.
• Tailgate opening. The width you actually load through. Ram publishes 60.0 in on the 1500 and 60.4 in on the HD trucks; Toyota lists 53.0 in on the new Tacoma.

Why the name never matches the tape

Bed names are labels, not measurements. The F-150's "5.5-foot" box is 67.1 in, or 5 ft 7.1 in. Tundra's "8.1-foot" bed is 96.5 in at the floor, a hair over 8 ft. GM's own body builder drawing labels the Silverado 1500's short box "5' 8"," yet its floor measures 69.92 in, or 5 ft 9.9 in. When you're buying something that has to fit (a tonneau cover, a toolbox, a drop-in liner, a bed slide), go by the model year, cab and bed code, and by the accessory maker's fitment list, not by the nominal length.

What fits in my truck bed?

Pick your truck and what you're hauling. The checker compares the item's length to the floor (or to the tailgate-down length), its width to the space between the wheel wells, and flags anything that hangs far enough past the tailgate to need a flag. The dirt bike and ATV presets use Honda's published 2026 dimensions; use Custom for anything else.

Dirt bikes, ATVs and the 5.5-foot bed

A current full-size motocross bike is about 86 inches long (Honda lists 85.9 in for both the 2026 CRF450R and CRF250R). That's longer than every short and standard bed in the chart. With the tailgate down, a full-size short bed gives you roughly 86–92 inches of support by our estimate, so a bike fits with the front wheel against the front wall and the rear tire on the tailgate. Plenty of riders load diagonally instead: corner to corner, a 5.5-foot F-150 floor spans about 93.6 inches, which is why a bike can sometimes ride with the gate closed.

ATVs are a width problem first. Honda's FourTrax Rancher is 47.4 in wide. It clears the wheel wells on every full-size truck and on the new Ranger (48.2), and it doesn't fit between them on a Tacoma, Frontier, Colorado or Gladiator. Weight is the other limit. The payload figure on your door-jamb placard includes the ATV, the ramps, the riders and anything else in the truck.

Ford F-150 bed dimensions (and Super Duty)

Ford builds the F-150 with a 5.5-ft box (67.1 in at the floor), a 6.5-ft box (78.9 in) and an 8-ft box (97.6 in). All three are 50.6 in between the wheelhouses and 21.4 in deep, with 52.8, 62.3 and 77.4 cu ft of volume. The Super Duty F-250 and F-350 use a 6.75-ft box (81.9 in) and an 8-ft box (98.1 in).

One Ford dealer's bed-size page we checked lists the F-150 at 51.1 in wide; Ford's own spec page says 50.6 in between the wheelhouses, and that's the number that decides sheet goods. If you haul sheet goods and want a SuperCrew, the 6.5-ft box is the one to get: 78.9 in of floor plus a dropped tailgate supports most of a 96-in sheet, where the 5.5-ft box leaves about 7.5 in hanging by our estimate.

The Super Duty's 6.75-ft box is 3 inches longer than the F-150's standard box and a few tenths shallower. Its 66.9-in max floor width is the widest of any Ford bed.

Silverado and Sierra bed dimensions

The 2019-and-newer Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 share three boxes: short (69.9 in at the floor), standard (79.4 in) and long (98.2 in). All are 50.6 in between the wheel wells, 71.4 in wide at the floor and 22.4 in deep, with 62.9, 71.7 and 89.1 cu ft of volume. The long box has the most volume of any bed in our chart.

GM's advantage is width and depth, not length. The 1500 boxes are 22.4 in deep, a full inch deeper than the F-150's, and 71.4 in wide at the floor. On an 8-foot bed those two numbers are how GM gets 89.1 cu ft against Ford's 77.4 and Ram HD's 74.7 at nearly the same length.

Midsize, compact and electric truck bed sizes

Midsize short beds cluster tightly around 5 feet (59.5 to 61.7 in at the floor), and the 6-foot beds from Toyota and Nissan run about 73.5 in. The compact and unibody trucks are more varied: the Santa Cruz is 48.4 in at the floor, the Maverick 54.4 in and the Ridgeline 64.0 in. Among the EVs, the Cybertruck's bed is the longest at 71.8 in.

The Ridgeline is the odd one. It's the shallowest bed in the chart, but it's 50.0 in between the wheel wells, which is full-size territory, and Honda adds a 7.3 cu ft In-Bed Trunk under the floor. The R1T is short at 54.1 in, yet it's the widest between the wheel wells of anything here, and Rivian's 83.6-in tailgate-down figure is longer than some standard beds with the gate closed.

Truck bed volume: cubic feet and cubic yards

Divide cubic feet by 27 to get cubic yards. A full-size short bed holds about 2 cubic yards level with the top of the sides, a standard bed about 2.3 to 2.7, and a GM long bed 3.3. Midsize beds hold about 1.3 to 1.6. Heaped loads hold more, but they're also how material ends up on the highway.

Volume is rarely the limit with heavy material. Gravel, wet soil and stone can hit a half-ton's payload rating long before the bed is full. Your truck's payload number is on the Tire and Loading Information placard in the driver's door jamb, and it has to cover the load plus everyone in the cab. Mulch and dry leaves are the opposite case; you'll fill the bed first.
