Who we are

35 years of putting applicators in business

Garry Froese started ArmorThane in 1989 with spray-on truck bed liners and one rule he still repeats: ArmorThane can't succeed unless its applicators do.

Today we formulate, manufacture and ship polyurea, polyurethane, polyaspartic and spray foam systems from facilities in the United States and Canada to certified applicators in more than 50 countries. We also build the equipment that sprays them.

That makes us a true one-stop shop. Your chemistry, your rig, your training and your tech support all come from the same family-owned company, so there's never a chemical supplier and a machine dealer pointing at each other when a job needs solving.

The one-stop shop

One partner for everything you need

Most coatings suppliers sell you a drum and wish you luck. ArmorThane covers the whole chain, from the formula in the drum to the phone call when you're stuck on a job. Tap each step.

Step 01 · We formulate & manufacture

Our own chemistry

ArmorThane develops and manufactures its own coatings, more than 200 formulations in all. Quality control, new-product development and your pricing stay with the manufacturer instead of a reseller.

  • Pure and hybrid polyurea, polyurethane and polyaspartic
  • Open- and closed-cell spray foam
  • Specialty systems for blast mitigation and anti-ricochet work
ArmorThane proportioner control panel
Step 02 · We equip

Equipment matched to the chemistry

High- and low-pressure plural-component systems, from our ArmorLine LP series to PMC and Graco proportioners, spec'd around the products and the volume you plan to run.

  • Low-pressure systems that run on standard power
  • High-pressure PMC and Graco packages for volume work
  • Heated hose, guns, spare parts and tips

Step 03 · We build

Custom Mobile Coatings Units

We design and build rigs in-house. Each MCU is configured for your products and your jobs, so you can take the shop to the customer anywhere.

  • Trailers from 16′ up to 36′
  • Single or dual compartment, high or low pressure
  • Complete power, air and heating packages
Applicator masking and preparing a surface during hands-on training
Step 04 · We train

Training at your location

In most cases our technician comes to you. We train you and your crew in your real environment, on your own equipment, and we don't leave until your system is running right.

  • Material chemistry, safety and surface prep
  • Spray technique, equipment care and troubleshooting
  • Ends with ArmorThane applicator certification

Step 05 · We stay with you

Support that picks up the phone

Once you're spraying, you're not on your own. You get a real tech line, a private applicator portal and marketing help to keep the work coming in.

  • 24/7 technical support by phone
  • Dealers-only portal: manuals, tech tips, data sheets, videos
  • Marketing materials and referral inquiries from our national advertising
The opportunity

Three ways to build with ArmorThane

Some of our applicators started from nothing. Others added coatings to a business they already owned. A few now run crews and rigs across several territories. Pick the road that fits you.

New applicators watching a spray demonstration in an ArmorThane shop

Start from scratch

No coatings experience? That's where most of our applicators began.

We teach you the chemistry, the equipment, surface prep and safety, and how to price and sell the work. A complete low-pressure starter package runs about $25,000, and there's no franchise fee stacked on top of it. You decide what to spray, who to sell to and what to charge.

  • No experience required
  • Turnkey packages from ~$25K
  • Third-party equipment financing available
  • 30-day launch goal
Work truck body protected with a textured ArmorThane coating

Add a profit center

You already have the customers. Sell them one more thing.

Collision and auto-body shops, truck accessory and RV dealers, roofers, concrete and flooring contractors, farm and fleet operations: you have the building, the crew and the customer list. Protective coatings turn all of that into a new, high-margin service line with very little added overhead.

  • Typical 40–60% gross margins
  • More revenue per customer
  • Uses space and staff you have
  • Protected territory for fixed locations
ArmorThane Mobile Coatings Unit with the side door open

Scale up

Add rigs, open new locations, build a crew.

Established applicators add Mobile Coatings Units, open fixed shops in new territories and train their own teams. Many run bedliners in the shop while a rig handles roofs and containment in the field. With no royalty skimming each invoice, every new unit adds its full contribution to your bottom line.

  • Add MCUs as demand grows
  • Stack markets on one crew
  • Step up to high pressure
  • No royalty on growth, ever
What you get

Illustration only, not a promise of earnings. Contribution is revenue minus direct job costs; it comes before rent, insurance, marketing, loan payments and taxes, and your results depend on your market, pricing and effort. RV roof defaults follow ArmorThane's published 32-ft example ($185/ft retail, about $1,088 of chemical and $4,144 contribution per roof, 34-week season). Bedliner defaults are a starting assumption; replace them with your local prices.

What sets ArmorThane apart

We don’t sell a product. We hand you a business.

Plenty of companies sell polyurea. Very few make the chemistry, build the rig, train you in your own shop and then leave the business, the brand and the profit entirely in your hands.

01

We make our own chemistry

ArmorThane formulates and manufactures its own coatings, so quality, innovation and pricing stay with the manufacturer.

02

We build our own equipment

Custom Mobile Coatings Units and proportioner packages engineered around our products, plus PMC and Graco when that's the right fit.

03

No franchise fee. No royalty.

A zero-fee dealer model since day one. You buy equipment and material; the business and every dollar of profit are yours.

04

Training at your location

Our technician comes to you, sets up your system in your real environment and doesn't leave until it runs right.

05

Protected territory, free

Qualifying fixed-location dealers get an exclusive territory at no added cost, sized to the market they can serve.

06

The widest product range

Polyurea, hybrids, polyurethane, polyaspartic, thermoset blends and spray foam, so you can say yes to more jobs.

07

Support that answers

A 24/7 tech line plus the Dealers-Only portal with manuals, tech tips, data sheets, training videos and monthly specials.

08

Safer, cleaner products

Our polyurea systems are 100% solids with no solvents or VOCs, which is better for your crew and your customers.

How much does it cost to become an ArmorThane applicator?

There's no franchise fee, no dealership fee and no royalty. You only buy the equipment and material you need. A complete low-pressure package runs about $25,000, including the proportioner, hose, gun, your first set of material, prep and safety gear, and training. High-pressure systems built around PMC or Graco proportioners land near $50,000, and Mobile Coatings Units are quoted to your spec. If you're starting from a bare building, budget roughly $3,000 to $8,000 for the shop side.

Do I need experience in coatings?

No. Our training takes complete beginners to certified professionals. It covers material chemistry, surface preparation, spray technique, equipment operation and maintenance, safety, and the business side: pricing, selling and marketing your work.

How fast can I be in business?

Our goal is to deliver your custom-ordered equipment and product package, with complete on-site training, within 30 days of your purchase.

Where does training happen?

In most cases, at your location. Our technician sees your real shop, equipment and jobs, makes sure all your supplemental equipment is compatible, and confirms your system is running before leaving. Virtual e-training is available too. You finish with ArmorThane applicator certification.

Is a protected territory provided?

Yes. Depending on your business plans, authorized dealers operating from a fixed location and selling to the retail public receive an exclusive, protected territory at no additional cost. Its size is based on the population you can serve with your equipment and product capabilities.

What is a plural-component product?

A coating made of two parts that are mixed at the moment they're sprayed. Once combined they turn solid in seconds, so they can't be pre-mixed. Most set in under 20 seconds and are ready to walk on in five minutes or less. Plural-component equipment meters, heats and mixes the two sides at the gun.

What support do I get after training?

A technical support line you can call any day, any time. You also get new products and process improvements as we develop them, professional marketing materials, referral inquiries from our national advertising, and the Dealers-Only portal with manuals, guides, tech tips, data sheets, training videos and monthly specials.

Is financing available?

Third-party equipment financing is available if capital timing is the sticking point. We don't finance in-house, but we'll connect you with lenders who do this every day.

Can I become an applicator outside the United States?

Absolutely. ArmorThane has dealers in more than 50 countries, and we manufacture and ship our products around the world. You don't need to be anywhere near our headquarters in Missouri, or even in the U.S., to work with us.
